A BLIND Jack Russell named Ruby conquered Snowdon with the help of her owner and guide human, having overcome health problems in recent years.
Ruby was helped up the mountain by owner Rachel Phillips and other walkers on the ascent via the Watkins Path.
One of their companions was completing Snowdon as a fundraiser for the RSPCA, a charity Rachel works for, with Ruby helping them every step of the way.
The 11-year-old suffered with glaucoma in the past, which affected both of her eyes, and underwent eye removal surgery for the first time in May 2020 with her second eye removed in August 2021.
Rachel praised Ruby’s strength just a year on from surgery, saying: “Despite everything, Ruby has not let blindness dampen her spirits and shows lots of enthusiasm for life.
“With support from other kind walkers, she safely made her way to the top.
“Ruby has proved she is still very much up for adventure and has plans to explore more of what North Wales has to offer.
“Blindness has not held her back!”
