A MAN died on the railway tracks, causing delays to train services in North Wales yesterday evening (October 3).
British Transport Police (BTP) confirmed that officers were called to the line close to Patricroft railway station, Greater Manchester, shortly before 5.30pm.
Paramedics also attended the scene, but it was later confirmed that a casualty had sadly died.
A train from Llandudno to Manchester Airport departed on time at 4.45pm, but was then up to nine minutes late at all later Welsh stops (Deganwy, Llandudno Junction, Colwyn Bay, Abergele, Rhyl, Prestatyn, Flint, Shotton).
The train was then 22 minutes late departing Chester, before terminating early, at Warrington Bank Quay.
A BTP spokesperson said: “BTP were called to the line near Patricroft station at 5.25pm yesterday (October 3) following reports of a casualty on the tracks.
“Paramedics also attended, however sadly, a man was pronounced dead at the scene.
“This incident is not being treated as suspicious, and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
