A FORMER Coleg Llandrillo hairdressing student returned to his former college just months after his creations for global brands lit up catwalks at the New York, Paris and London fashion weeks.

Ashley Graham, from Colwyn Bay, was guest stylist at an event staged by the world’s largest cosmetics company, held at the college’s Rhos-on-Sea campus.

The L'Oréal Watch Party – one of only five held across the UK – provided hairdressing students from across Grŵp Llandrillo Menai’s three colleges - Coleg Llandrillo, Coleg Menai and Coleg Meirion-Dwyfor – with a wide range of tutorials, and eagerly anticipated goody bags.

The event also included a screening of this year’s L'Oréal Colour Trophy Grand Final, which was held in London.

The ex-Ysgol Bryn Elian pupil - who moved to Manchester to work in a hairdressing salon straight after finishing his college studies in 2008 - was excited to return to the place where his journey began.

He said: “I am absolutely delighted to be back at Coleg Llandrillo. I was so ambitious even then, and the staff were so encouraging, offering me a tremendous level of support.”

The mini roadshow also aimed to encourage learners to enter the L'Oréal Colour Trophy competition’s new student category that has been created as part of the annual showcase.

This has been one of the most illustrious industry competitions for more than six decades.
