FOR the last 39 years, one fish and chip shop in Conwy has served its customers diligently and to the highest standard.

Situated down the road from Conwy Castle on the bustling Castle Street of Conwy town, the Fisherman’s Chip Shop has survived by adapting to new ideas yet never straying far from what made it successful.

Owner Jonathan Nolan said that the variety the business has is a reason for success, as well as their peak produce.

Jonathan said: “We only source the best products available and make an effort to buy sustainably sourced ingredients. We pride ourselves on cooking our food to order so our customer is getting the freshest food possible.

“We like to have fun with our menu from time to time and try different things such as our festive menu.”

Customers can both take out and dine in the restaurant, and accommodates special dietary requirements, with a gluten free menu seeing more customers return time and again.

They have been nominated for several Good Food awards and recently won a TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice Award for 2022, which is based on reviews made by customers, another indication of the popularity of the eatery.

Despite his pride in winning this award, Jonathan is just relieved to have steered the business through the Covid-19 pandemic.

“These awards come from reviews made by our customers and it's all made possible by the fantastic work of our hardworking team. We’re extremely proud to be able to display these awards,” said Jonathan.

“I'm particularly proud of how the business successfully navigated through the challenges of the pandemic. The hospitality industry was hit hard over the pandemic due to staff shortages and restaurant closures and we had to adapt the way we do things.

“Our team have worked really hard over the busy summer months and beyond and have shown great flexibility and resilience.”
