HUNDREDS of people went along to the Llandudno Toy & Train Fair at Venue Cymru yesterday (December 27).

Initially acting as a fundraiser for advertising for the Llandudno Transport Festival (same organisers), the Fair has developed a devoted following in the years since it was first held.

This year was no different, with hundreds of toy and train enthusiasts, collectors and others going along to see the display of miniature locomotives and train memorabilia, as well as toys both old and new.

Organisers Jim and Vicci Ricketts had feared for its success this year because of train strikes, bank holidays, postage strikes and the weather, but everything came together.

Jim said: “With yet more and more complications of the added Bank Holiday, postage strikes effecting our mailing stall entries and the complication of public from far away not being able to get to us due to railway strikes, we had a bit up against us once again.

“Despite all of this, we experienced a lot of diehard followers braving the elements to re-join us in making the day exceptionally busy for all involved with the day.

“With much praise for bringing the Llandudno Toy & Train Fair back home to Venue Cymru once again, from all of our visitors and loyal returning supporters year after year, which we can only thank all who made an effort and attended.

“We look forward to seeing them all again next December.”

The organisers now turn their attention to next year’s Llandudno Transport Festival, which will take place from April 29 to May 1.

The Transport Festival is run in conjunction with the Llandudno Victorian Extravaganza, with buses connecting the two events throughout.
