THE SECOND series of a popular Channel Four show has attempted to solve the mystery surrounding the disappearance of an antique shop owner from Llangollen.

Trevaline Evans disappeared in 1990, who was in the process of moving to Rhuddlan with her husband to live out their retirement.

The series returned last week with Silent Witness star Emilia Fox joined by criminologist Professor David Wilson and former senior detective and criminologist Dr Graham Hill to investigate unsolved murder cases.

In episode six, the trio turn their attentions to the Trevaline Evans case.

In June 1990, 52-year-old grandmother Trevaline closed up her antique shop in Llangollen for a few moments leaving behind a now infamous note which said “back in 2 minutes”. She never returned.

Despite a full-scale investigation and numerous television appeals, what happened to Trevaline remains a mystery.

Episode six of 'In the Footsteps of Killers' takes an in-depth look at the case.

The episode starts off by describing Trevaline as someone who is 'happily married and from a close-knit family' - but things take a dark turn quickly as more information is uncovered.

Asked if he thought she was murdered, Prof Wilson says: "Well, 30 years later there's still no body and still no leads."

Fox adds: "It's the stuff of nightmares isn't it? To completely vanish without a trace."

Prof Wilson says he came across the case after receiving an email from 'two armchair detectives'.

Asked about why he wanted to investigate, he says: "I hate mysteries and even if there's no body or no crime scene, I genuinely believe that you can still find answers."
