A STRATEGY is being formed that aims to attract new businesses to the BayView Shopping Centre in Colwyn Bay.

The shopping centre currently has six empty spaces, with Shoe Zone, Autonomy Ladieswear and Designer North Wales all closing in recent years, with Autonomy having gone into administration during the Covid-19 pandemic.

A spokesperson for the BayView attributed this decline to the pandemic, during which “retail has been hard hit”, as others areas of the town see a decline in trade as the high streets suffer.

No businesses have filled these spaces, but with the BayView under new management this year, enticing new traders to set up shop is a priority.

The BayView spokesperson said: “With the recent pandemic, retail has been hard hit.

“Bayview Shopping Centre is under new management for 2023.

“There will be a focus from the team in looking to bring in new business as opportunities arise.

“This is early days for the new team and a strategy for the forward approach to maximising the offering is being developed.”
