A MUM from Llandudno has spent the best part of a year renovating an old caravan into a beauty salon business.

Adrienne Prior is a learner success mentor at Coleg Llandrillo, and deals with learners’ success and ensuring students are attending studies.

But for about a year, Ms Prior has refurbished an old caravan into the mobile beauty salon Beau Mobile Salon and Events, and has done almost everything herself.

“Just about a year ago, one of my mum’s friends was getting rid of one for free,” said Adrienne.

“I said I will take it, not really looking at how much work was involved.”

With YouTube her “best friend”, she reused wood from a recycling centre, sought advice from a timber yard, went on courses to learn different skills, and was helped by friends to create her dream workplace.

Mainly working during the holidays, her perseverance has helped her achieve her goal.

Adrienne has been in the beauty industry for about five years, and first got into the trade due to the demands of childcare, before encountering hurdles with the Covid-19 pandemic.

She said: “When I was on maternity with my youngest child I just wanted a change of career, something that I could work around him because of the cost of childcare.

“I trained whilst on maternity leave, and became a mobile beautician.

“Just after lockdown, the mobile business fizzled up, and I didn’t like a salon space I rented, so wanted something of my own.”

Now completed, Adrienne’s salon is based outside her home in Craig-y-Don, with plans to become more mobile when she goes full-time in June, at the end of her college tenure.

She hopes to take part in food festivals and events like the Victorian Extravaganza in Llandudno, and can be found on social media at Beau Mobile Salon and Events.
