CREW members at Conwy’s Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) team launched in the early hours last night (February 7) to an unresponsive casualty.

This was near the breakwater at the north end of West Shore beach, Llandudno, with a rising tide.

Its inshore lifeboat, The May-Bob, was swiftly launched, with three RNLI volunteer crew members aboard - Alan, Jamie and Siobhan - to assist the casualty.

At arrival on scene, two crew members went ashore to assess and assist the casualty.

Together with Llandudno Coastguard and North Wales Police, first aid and oxygen was given to the casualty.

With the casualty then in the safe hands of the paramedics, the lifeboat was stood down and returned to station where it was washed, refuelled and made ready for the next request.

A Conwy Lifeboat spokesperson said: “Together, the crew did a great job, with the quick response and working jointly with multi agencies to aid the casualty’s health and safety.

“A big thanks to all involved and to all the Conwy Lifeboat volunteer crew members who made our response possible.

“A friendly reminder that if you see someone in difficultly either on or near the water, please call 999 and ask for the Coastguard.”
