ONE of Wales' most famous castles has turned into a School of Magic for the half-term break.

Gwrych Castle, where ITV's I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! was filmed in 2020 and 2021, is under a spell until February 26.

The Journal attended the School of Magic on Tuesday, February 21. We attended a class with a potions master and alchemist and took part in an assignment to create a 'resurrection potion'. Little Betsy was chosen from the crowd to pick a strongly smelled 'spice' for the powerful concoction.

This was to aid an 'unwell pixie' said to be 'locked in a box'.

It was then off to a class in spells. With a quick flick of a wand and the word illuminate, students were taught how to switch on a light.

The final class was with Professor Mandrake. As well as learning everything herbology, little ones were able to hold a 'dragon's egg.'

Gwrych Castle has teamed up with a theatre production company to make the event possible.

A castle spokesperson said: "We have such an imposing backdrop due to the nestled position of the castle, so we’ve found that adding an interactive element for events helps to bring the castle to life."
