RESIDENTS in Conwy are being urged to take part in a national moment of silence to mark one year since Russia invaded Ukraine.

The Government has confirmed that a national one-minute silence will take place on Friday, February 24 at 11am.

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak is expected to lead the nation in silence from Downing Street.

This national moment of reflection will offer the UK public the chance to pay tribute to the courage of the Ukrainian people and demonstrate the UK’s solidarity with the country.

Cllr Ifor Glyn Lloyd, Chairman of Conwy County Borough Council, said: “This national moment of reflection will offer the UK public the chance to pay tribute to the courage of the Ukrainian people and demonstrate solidarity with the country.

"I hope that Conwy residents, whether at home, at work, or with family and friends will join the nation and share in this moment of reflection.”
