A WOMAN from Liverpool has named her dog after her “favourite Welsh town” – Llandudno.

Sarah Sinnott, a healthcare worker, said her dog, a Wire-Haired Dachshund, loves visiting the seaside town as much as she does.

She and her family had travelled to just south of Llandudno to get the dog.

Sarah said: “On the journey home, we passed our favourite Welsh town, and decided on the name.

“People said it was too much of a mouthful, but we never shorten it, and he comes back - almost - every time.

“We frequently visit Llandudno, and it was funny when we let him off the lead on the beach and we were shouting ‘Llandudno’ at the top of our voices on Llandudno promenade.”

“He got a lot of attention, as he’s gorgeous, and the people there were all surprised and happy when they learned his name."

Sarah said Llandudno brings back some of her most treasured childhood memories, adding that, if she and her family get another dog, they plan to call it “Conwy”.

She added: “Llandudno is our favourite place to go for the night, and we love a walk down the pier.

“We think it’s important he keeps his Welsh heritage. He certainly supported Wales in the World Cup, and he loves a day out in North Wales.

“He’s become a bit of a celebrity - everybody remembers his name. All Scousers love the town Llandudno, and they love Llandudno the dog.”
