A CHARITY providing end-of-life care in Conwy, Gwynedd and Anglesey is challenging golfers to complete up to 50 holes in one day to support its work.

St David’s Hospice is encouraging residents in all three regions to take on its 50-hole golf challenge for charity throughout 2023.

In 2021, the hospice’s fundraising manager, Adrian Owen, completed 50 holes himself for his 50th birthday, along with two friends, and raised £2,000 in doing so.

This year, it will cost more than £6million to run St David’s Hospice’s services across North West Wales.

Just a small percentage of that figure comes from funding via Welsh Government and Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board.

The majority of this comes from community fundraising such as the golfing challenge.

None of these costs are passed to the patients, their families or carers, because St David’s Hospice’s care is free to all.

The hospice gives the following tips if you’re interested in taking part:

  • Get a team and set a date.
  • Plan your course (decide if you’re going to play on one or multiple courses, and book your tee times).
  • Set up your “Enthuse” fundraising page.
  • Get in touch with the hospice’s fundraisers for hints, tips, posters and collection buckets.
