A NEW burger takeaway restaurant has opened in Llandudno Junction, headed by a father and son with a love for American-style cuisine.
Smashed, located at 71a Conway Road, opened on March 7 at the old L’s Coffee House site, and is named after the flavour-filled burgers they serve.
The business is run by father-and-son duo Mat and Ethan Burton, who share a love for American cuisine.
“I’ve been over to America a few times, and so has my dad, and we just love that style of food, it’s like an American-style barbecue food mixed with street food,” Ethan told the Pioneer.

28-year-old Ethan has worked as a chef for more than a decade, but has always wanted to open his own place.
With some help from his dad, his dream was achieved, something Ethan is grateful for.
Ethan said: “I’ve been a chef locally for 13 years, and always just wanted my own place.
“For the past 10 years, I’ve been going on about getting my own place open, and I wouldn’t have been able to open it if it wasn’t for my dad.
“It’s great really, he’s not got any cooking or hospitality experience, so he’s come in as a partner.”
The restaurant’s name refers to the burgers it serves, which Ethan says is a current trend to smash burgers down when they are on the grill.
Smashed serves a wide variety of food, with several burger choices, fries options, sides, desserts and drinks.
The burger hotspot has already received strong reviews on Just Eat, where all four reviews have given a maximum six stars, and one adding: “Amazing food, so tasty! I’ll definitely be ordering from smashed again.”
