A RESIDENT braved the ‘brutal’ conditions to record a time-lapse of the Aurora Borealis over the Great Orme last night (March 23).

Tanya Maria from Llandudno climbed up the Great Orme to capture the phenomenon, which was her first attempt at a time-lapse.

The video was recorded across an hour, from 9-10pm, and was achieved without any colour enhancement.

The Aurora is caused by solar storm energy entering the Earth’s atmosphere, interacting with gases in our atmosphere resulting in beautiful displays of light in the sky.

“Lady Aurora put on a beautiful show tonight,” said Tanya.

“We headed up to the turning for the Tank Tracks on the Great Orme, boy was it windy and cold but worth every moment to get this.

“My first attempt at a time-lapse to show her dancing in the sky - it was challenging as the wind was brutal but magical to see.”

The Aurora was seen across North Wales, with sightings in Anglesey, Gwynedd and Denbighshire.
