SCOUTING for Girls will headline a fundraising event for a new pitch at Llandudno FC’s OPS Wind Arena ground.

The pop rock band will perform at the club’s stadium on June 10, after “a lot of work from the Board of Directors and volunteers” to make it happen, the club said on social media.

The purpose of the event will be to raise funds to secure a new 3G pitch for the community and people of Llandudno, and with it the club’s future.

In what the club has dubbed the “largest open-air music event that our town has seen in its history”, all funds raised will go directly towards the facility.

The announcement follows a statement by the club that they were “fighting for survival”, but that they had entered the final stage of an application for funding with “several” bodies.

The club statement said: “Llandudno FC is still fighting for its survival but has made positive steps forward.

“After the public meeting we’ve have seen a number of people come forward to support the club and every pair of hands is making a difference.

“In relation to the pitch board members have met with several funding bodies and have received positive feedback and we have passed to the final stage of an application which is hoped to provide us with the funding needed to see a total pitch replacement.

“Although the grant panel does not sit until June of this year, which leaves us with a very tight turn around period before the start of the season, we believe it is still possible to have this completed ready for 2023/24.

“It has also been great to see all the fundraising efforts that are underway from a small group of fans, every single penny raised will help secure the clubs future.

“The club is also looking at holding a number of large-scale events over the summer in order to raise additional revenues so to repay the majority of outstanding debts ready for the new footballing season.

“Any support for these events will be hugely appreciated as we remain on the challenging path to recover.

“It’s a mammoth task but we feel a real togetherness and fighting spirit from all involved to get us in a better position. We are heading in the right direction!”

Save The Pitch Music Festival will run from 2pm to 10pm, with gates opening at 12pm.
