A LLANDUDNO business owner’s expansion into floristry has been a great success, with queues already out the door.

Natalyas Home Story, at 1 Zion Passage, expanded into the floristry business around Valentine’s Day this year after opening on the premises some 18 months ago.

The business is run by Natalya Roberts, who started the business her home before the move to the Zion Passage site.

“I took over the site from a lady who ran a hairdressers, a good friend of mine who passed away,” Natalya told the Pioneer.

“I just kept the shop going because it means a lot to me.”

Originally a home décor business, she then expanded to events planning and decorating, with a particular focus on weddings.

The events side of the business was even shortlisted at the Welsh Wedding Awards in the ‘Best Wedding Coordinator’ category.

Despite redecorating the place, Natalya kept some of her late friend’s touches, wanting her presence to always remain at the shop.

Natalya’s latest idea was an expansion into floristry, which has been a huge success since it began in February.

She said: “I just needed something else - I was already doing floristry for weddings but I had so many customers coming into my shop asking “are you the place that does flowers”.

“There was basically no fresh flower shop in Llandudno centre after one closed down after 20 years, and Marks & Spencer had moved.

“After much demand, I decided to launch it on Valentine’s Day to see how it would work and since then have been working with hotels, funerals and apartments.”

The business has taken off, attracting clientele from across the country, including London and Manchester.

Natalya is also looking to add up to three or four members to her team in the coming months, to take the load off her own shoulders (she currently works alone with occasional help from friends).

She continued: “It’s been quite a successful hit, to the point where last week I completely sold out of flowers and had people queueing outside.

“It’s not stopped. It’s just been a really big success, because so many locals are happy that there is a local florist, especially for the older generation who can come in and pick the flowers they want.

Natalya is also in talks with a grower from Llandudno, with an aim to be more eco-friendly and source more produce from the area.
