HUNDREDS of people went along to the new Ormo Lounge in Llandudno, which celebrated its opening today (May 11).

The café and bar, part of the stylish Loungers chain, opened at the Gloddaeth Street site previously home to M&Co.

The bar was busy throughout the day, with its food menu proving popular ahead of an official opening ceremony at 6pm, which will invite other businesses from Llandudno to establish a rapport.

Joe White, general manager of the Ormo Lounge, told the Pioneer it was “fantastic” to finally open the establishment.

“It’s obviously been incredibly busy for weeks for us,” said Mr White.

“It feels fantastic, it feels absolutely great. It really is unique, we are different from the norm, it’s not your average café bar.”

The Ormo Lounge already employs around 30 members of staff, which is expected to grow as the business becomes more popular.

It is made up of three large lounges, with a colourful and funky interior including stain glass work, upholstery, intimate seating areas and a bar to get the drinks in.

The menu provides breakfast and brunch options, tapas, burgers and desserts, with a drinks menu of cocktails and mocktails, draft beers and hot drinks.

Mr White continued: “We describe ourselves as a café bar, we operate on an all day food menu which has a variety of items and it’s the same menu that runs from 9am to 10pm.

“So if you wanted breakfast at 10 at night you could have it, or a burger for breakfast, whatever you want we can supply it for you.

“We pride ourselves on our coffee and our homemade drinks, our coffees are all handmade by a trained barista.

“We’re essentially a home away from home, we want to be a part of the community, we aim to be involved as much as we can with local people and local businesses.”

For the first month, 50p from every burger sale will go to a charity of the Ormo Lounge’s choosing, for which they have selected the Llandudno RNLI.
