FILMING for the next season of HBO’s House of the Dragon looks set to take place on Anglesey in the coming weeks.

Filming crews were reportedly spotted on Anglesey in the last few weeks, and a marquee was erected at Penmon, with a team seen working at the site.

This come after Warner Bros Discovery, owners of HBO, announced “exciting and rare” job opportunities in the region for a three-month project, including extras roles.

It is not yet known what the filming will involve, but show creator and author of the Fire & Blood book on which the series is based, George R. R. Martin, has previously said some production would take place in Wales.

There are also reports that costume fittings had taken place on east Anglesey, and a casting call, believed to be for the HBO production, stated that filming would take place within 25 miles of Caernarfon at the end of June.

HBO renewed House of the Dragon for a second season back in August 2022, just days after the series debuted.

Actor Rhys Ifans, from Ruthin, is expected to continue in the role of Otto Hightower in season two.

House of the Dragon is set hundreds of years before the events of Game of Thrones, and focuses on the reign of House Targaryen.

Season two is not expected to debut until 2024.
