A CHARITY shop in Colwyn Bay is set to close this weekend due to it being “no longer profitable”.

Barnardo’s, situated on Station Road, will shut its doors on Saturday, June 10.

But its members of staff will be transferred both to the company’s existing Rhyl store, on Vale Road, and to a new Barnardo’s shop set to open in Denbigh.

This will be based at Denbigh Retail Park, and will open on Saturday, June 17.

The company passed its thanks to all of those who have supported it through its Colwyn Bay store.

A spokesperson for Barnardo’s said: “We will be closing our Colwyn Bay store on June 10 as unfortunately it is no longer profitable.

“However, we will be opening a large, new store on the Denbigh Retail Park on Saturday, June 17 and are delighted that staff and volunteers are transferring to Denbigh and to our existing Rhyl store.

“We would like to thank all our volunteers, donors and customers who have supported us in Colwyn Bay over the years. We are very grateful to them.

“We will give them a warm welcome at our new store which will have a much larger range of items on sale.”
