BOOTS Hearingcare’s decision to move its training academy to Llandudno has boosted the economy of the resort town.

The brand already had a support team based in Llandudno but has now relocated its training centre from Birmingham.

This has created more jobs at its offices above the Victoria Centre, with up to 20 trainees living in Llandudno at any one time.

This has inevitably resulted in hotels, shops and restaurants all making more money.

Karen Shepherd, director of audiological support at Boots Hearingcare, said: “I’m incredibly proud of our continued commitment to North Wales as our base for Boots Hearingcare.

“It’s fantastic that we can invest in new facilities to give our support teams an improved working environment with great collaboration and training space.

“The centre offers a great space for trainees, with two lecture/workshop areas, a clinical practical area, interactive audiological equipment stations, various areas which can be used for coaching and meetings, and a full size consultation room, which provides real life experience for trainees on how it feels to work within a Boots store.

“Since opening towards the end of last year, the centre has been extremely busy training new audiologists via the Boots Hearingcare approved regulatory programme.

“To date Boots Hearingcare has trained 27 Hearing Aid Audiologists, with 17 currently in training and another 20 due to start in August.

“Over 100 Hearing Wellness Assistants have also been trained who will then go on to support Boots Hearingcare services in store.”
