A 'controlled explosion' took place on Colwyn Bay beach on Wednesday afternoon.
A resident told the Pioneer that he saw a bomb disposal van and two police cars parked up near the prom, in the direction of Porth Eirias, at about 5pm on July 5.
A cordon was in place and a large section of the beach was closed.
Eye-witness Aaran Lennox, who took pictures and a video of the controlled explosion, said: "There was a large explosion on Colwyn Bay beach as bomb disposal carried out a ‘controlled explosion’ to detonate something discovered within the sand."
A spokesperson from North Wales Police said: "We were called to Colwyn Bay Promenade shortly after 4pm to assist with a road closure as the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) were doing a controlled explosion. It was all done by just after 5pm."
