A 'SUBSTANCE' was safely destroyed during a controlled explosion carried out on Colwyn Bay beach.
Various items were also destroyed.
Army EOD (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) team from Chester Troop, 521 EOD Sqn, 11 EOD&S Regt, attended a location in Colwyn Bay on July 5 at the request of North Wales Police.
A spokesperson from the British Army said: "The team identified various items, some of which were destroyed in a controlled explosion and some of which were safe to be recovered by EOD for subsequent disposal."
A resident told the Pioneer that he saw a bomb disposal van and two police cars parked up near the prom, in the direction of Porth Eirias, at about 5pm on July 5.
A cordon was in place and a large section of the beach was closed.
A spokesperson from North Wales Police said this morning (July 6): "We were called to Colwyn Bay Promenade shortly after 4pm on July 5 to assist with a road closure as the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) were doing a controlled explosion.
"It was all done by just after 5pm."
The spokesperson has since added: "A controlled explosion was carried out by members of the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team in Colwyn Bay on July 5 to safely destroy a substance.
"Officers and local PCSO’s were in attendance to assist."
