A POPULAR Conwy pub has been named the best family pub in Aberconwy, in the constituency’s MP Robin Millar’s pub of the year competition.
The Mulberry, at Conwy Marina, Ellis Way received hundreds of votes from pub lovers from throughout Aberconwy.
The pub also finished third in the all-round category, behind winners The Albion Ale House in Conwy and Y Clwb in Glan Conwy (second).
Following the close of voting and the announcement of the winners, Mr Millar met with Jason Taylor, licensee of The Mulberry, to congratulate him and to present him with a certificate.
Mr Millar said: “Pubs are at the heart of our communities - more than 800 people voted for 48 different pubs in the Aberconwy Best Pub competition.
“I’d like to congratulate Jason and the entire team at the Mulberry on winning the Best Family Pub category.
“Clearly, the good beer, good food and spectacular views of the Conwy Estuary and Eryri – and not forgetting its pirate ship play area for children - have made The Mulberry popular with families.
"It was a pleasure to meet with Jason and William Robinson, the Chief Executive of Robinson’s Brewery to present the prize.
"Robinson's is a significant employer across North Wales and William and I spent some time discussing the hospitality sector.

“I’m visiting pubs throughout Aberconwy during the summer to speak with licensees. In May I hosted a roundtable discussion with local pub owners and managers to hear about the challenges pubs are facing.
"I will continue to do all that I can to support our local pubs, brewers and hospitality trade through the months ahead.”
The Mulberry posted on social media: “We are excited to announce that The Mulberry has won the category for Best Family Pub.
“We couldn’t have done it without all of you, so on behalf of everyone at The Mulberry we thank you.”
The winners of the Aberconwy best pub of the year 2023 competition are:
- Best All-Round Pub: The Albion, Conwy
- Best Community-Supporting Pub: The Irish Bar, Llandudno
- Best Food and Drink Pub: The Groes Inn
- Best Family Pub: The Mulberry
- Best Pub Garden: Ye Olde Bull Inn
- Best Dog-Friendly Pub: Bank of Conwy
