A POPULAR Llandudno pub has been crowned the “best community pub” in Aberconwy MP Robin Millar’s “Pub of the Year” competition in his constituency.

The Irish Bar, Mostyn Street received hundreds of votes from pub lovers, who highlighted its community spirit, support for musicians in the area, and regular fundraisers for good causes.

Last Friday (August 18), Mr Millar called in to meet with licensees Joann and Michael, and their daughter Grace, to congratulate them and to present them with their certificate.

Mr Millar said: "Very well done to the Irish Bar for this award! It's a big vote of confidence and appreciation by their customers and really captures the atmosphere they have created here.

“It was clear from the results of the competition how valued their support for local musicians and good causes is.

“On a personal note, I'm grateful to Jo for the help she has been to me to understand all the challenges pubs faced through the pandemic - which helped tailor the help they received.

“Thank you - and well done!"

Joann said: "This means a lot as it is our customers who have voted and it is thanks to them we are here and the importance we place on supporting the local community here in Llandudno has been recognised.

“We're a small bar but we work hard and over more than 20 years now there is a big community of friends and customers here.

“Thank you to all our customers and our staff for helping us achieve this great award, we're really grateful to you all.”
