A LIZARD was luckily found in the back garden of a home on the Great Orme of Llandudno.

Janine Cunningham spotted the reptile in her partner’s garden when clearing out an overgrown area.

Hoping to strim away vegetation at the spot, Janine luckily spotted the lizard before any harm could come to it, and placed it in a safe place.

Janine told the Pioneer: “We were clearing the garden as it had become a bit overgrown and found it in a spot where we were hoping to strim.

So, I placed it in a safe place away from it, but I had to take a picture first!”

The reptile is a common lizard (zootica vivipara), which are found throughout North Wales, especially between March and October.

They are unusual among reptiles in that they incubate their eggs inside its body, and so give birth to live young rather than laying eggs.

Its brownish-grey body, with rows of darker spots or stripes down the back and sides, are typical of a common lizard, according to The Wildlife Trusts.
