RHYL and Llandudno have been named the second and third most popular Welsh seaside resorts by TikTok users.

Researchers at Simply Sea Views compiled a list of the most popular Welsh Seaside towns according to TikTok users, with Rhyl’s 25.8 million views, and Llandudno’s 24.4 million views, second and third respectively after Tenby in Pembrokeshire.

The Victorian Pier in Llandudno is one of North Wales's most memorable tourist attractions and has more than 2,00 reviews scoring it as excellent on TripAdvisor.

When it comes to a classic day at the seaside, with bucket and spade, ice cream, white sandy beaches and calm seas, Rhyl ticks all the boxes.

Josh Walker at Simply Sea Views said of the two towns: “Rhyl gets a lot of stick, but it’s mostly unfair snobbery.

“Don’t let the criticism put you off, take a look at some of the TikTok videos showing Rhyl's better side and then come and see for yourself.”

“Llandudno could easily have taken the top spot. This perfectly preserved Victorian Seaside is often used as a filming location and walking along the pier it's easy to be transported back in time.

“With views over the Great Orme, the chance to spot seals at nearby Angel Bay, as well as dolphins from the end of the pier Llandudno is a magical day out for modern visitors.

“There is plenty to see and do and a collection of quaint cafes and popular bars and restaurants for visitors to enjoy.”

Colwyn Bay and Prestatyn were also in the top 10.
