A WOMAN who started a clothing and accessories business to help empower ladies is hosting a charity fashion show.

Ali Paradiuk, from Shine with Ali clothing and accessories, will host the event at Comrades Club Conwy on Wednesday, November 15 to raise funds for Ty Gobaith.

The night will showcase a range of pieces that will be modelled by ladies of "all shapes and sizes."

Ali said: "I started my business a few years ago as I’ve always loved different clothing and decided to go to market through house parties - a bit like Tupperware but definitely more exciting!

"At my second house party I met a wonderful lady who had said to her husband, 'I’m going to a clothes party but I will be home in half an hour as there will be nothing to fit me?'

"Later that night we had a conversation and I soon realised that Karen had fell out of love with herself because she had put on weight. This had led to her falling out of love with clothing.

"We had fun that evening and dressed Karen in a few outfits including one for a wedding.

"On the way home I started to think, how many ladies for what ever reason had fell out of love with themselves? It might be age, weight or just life?

"It started me thinking how to empower these ladies."

Ali got in touch with her friend Pip who runs a church hall and carries out fundraising.

"I said 'Pip, I’ve got things I can donate to fundraise and what I’d like to do is put on a Charity Fashion Show with ladies of all shapes and sizes'.

"We didn’t ticket it but just spread the word and hoped we would have 20 to 30 ladies turn up. In fact, on the night, we had 126 ladies come through the door.

"It was such a fun night. We had 10 models of all shapes, sizes and ages our eldest model was 84 years young.

"I wanted it to be so inclusive," Ali said.

From that evening, Shine with Ali took off.

Ali said: "In the room were two ladies who worked along side two other charities. They asked could we help their charities by doing the same as we’d done that evening and that is when Shine with Ali started and we started working hand in hand with charities and fabulous ladies."

MORE STORIES

Ali's clothing is one size; Ali goes to Manchester herself to source the clothing.

On the night of the fashion show, there will be raffle prizes donated from businesses and people from the area.

Ali said: "I will be donating a full outfit. This goes in the raffle.

"Then we donate a stand alone donation of six boxes with £25 of stock in each box, so on the night there is an opportunity to win something fab.

"We hold this event in November for Ty Gobaith. All funds raised will be held in a pot until Sunday, November 19 as in 36 hours, as part of Ty Gobaith's Final Moments Matter, the hospice will have to raise £550,000 which will be match funded so everything raised is doubled."

Tickets can be purchased at the door but people are encouraged to purchase in advance if they can.

Telephone Ali 07962530234, Vicky Cutler on 07990526907 or Teresa Bushell on 07957895689 for tickets. Price £5. Event starts at 7pm.
