STAFF from a Llandudno business have given a big cash boost to an appeal to buy ambulances to send to Ukraine after trekking round the Great Orme.

Colleagues from Business Insurance Specialists (BIS) on Trinity Square undertook a 7k slog sponsored by clients of the business and family and friends.

The appeal is to buy two second-hand vehicles which will transport military and civilian casualties to hospital and their effort, combined with a raffle in the office, amounted to more than £1,300 raised.

Seven colleagues took part in the walk which was blessed with fine weather, stunning views and several encounters with the famous Llandudno goats feeding on the highland.

Bev Owen, office manager, said: “We kept each other going especially on the climb. Our feet and thighs were very tired but we were determined to support such a good cause.

“We all agreed how lucky we are in North Wales to have such a beautiful spot to walk. The views were breath-taking and it was lovely to see the Llandudno goats who used to visit our office in the pandemic as well as seals on the shore.

“It took us two hours after work and the descent was a lot easier especially as we looked forward to a treat at the end.”

The workmates finished with a meal at The Lilly Restaurant on West Shore where they enjoyed chunky chips and garlic bread.

The friends trained for a few weeks beforehand, going on walks along the promenade at lunchtimes.

Roger Stevens, managing director, said: “We've had great support from our loyal clients. Although Ukraine is less dominant in the news now we had no trouble collecting the sponsorship monies in. They were given gladly along with separate donations.
