KNIFE amnesty bins have been set up in Llandudno and Colwyn Bay as the police encourages people to hand in any unwanted knives.
The scheme is part of North Wales Police’s Operation Sceptre, a national initiative that aims to raise awareness of knife crime and the police action in detecting, reducing and preventing it.
Officers undertake a range of activities including targeted operations, engagement and education to reassure young people they are safer not carrying knives, and to walk away from harm.
The week of action is also an opportunity for people to surrender any knives or any bladed articles that could be used as a weapon at one of the amnesty bins located at the following:
People can discard any unwanted knives at the following locations:
- Llandudno Police Station
- Colwyn Bay Police Station
Inspector Geraint Richards of North Wales Police’s Prevention Hub said: “We must ensure that we are doing everything we can to reinforce the message that carrying a knife is unacceptable and that no good can come from carrying one.
