MORE THAN 70 businesses across Llandudno have signed up to the upcoming late night Christmas shopping event in the town.

The four-night event, dubbed Merry Mostyn Street, was pioneered by the newly-formed community group, the Friends of Mostyn Street.

Merry Mostyn Street will take place each evening from December 13-16, with enlisted stores, cafes and bars to stay open until 8pm.

The aim of the event is to create a warm, welcoming Christmas atmosphere for shoppers, increase footfall for town centre businesses and reward the best Christmas window displays.

In a further demonstration of the Christmas spirit across the town, businesses in Craig-y-Don are also joining in the fun by opening late to serve the community with everything residents could need in the way of gifts and festive essentials.

This extension to the Christmas shopping event is being called the Craig-y-Don Little Christmas Cracker and will offer further fun and tempting promotions to attract shoppers.

Crowds line streets for Llandudno Christmas Parade 2023!

All kinds of shops and businesses are taking part in Merry Mostyn Street, with a variety of activities planned to encourage participation, including a £250 top prize for the best Christmas window or frontage competition, sponsored by Llandudno Town Council.

Shoppers are also being encouraged to take part in a free Merry Mostyn Street Christmas Trail, which will involve getting a number of stamps on a special map from venues involved in the event.

Each completed map will then be entered into a draw for a number of prizes kindly donated by local businesses.

Prizes for completed trail maps include

  • £500 Spend on Clare’s Department Store’s 2024 new season men’s and women’s collections
  • £100 cash prize kindly sponsored by Llandudno Pier
  • £100 worth of exciting toboggan vouchers for Ski Llandudno

As part of the Craig-y-Don Little Christmas Cracker event, an extra range of gifts from businesses all over Craig-y-Don is being offered in a further free prize draw for people who shop in the village centre during the late-night shopping event, including prizes from Hush and Give a Little.

Gini Rivers of The Friends of Mostyn Street said: “This is the first late-night Christmas shopping event for many years and we have been overwhelmed with the positive response from local businesses to our Merry Mostyn Street plan.

“Christmas is always a critical time of the year for business owners and despite the Mostyn Street name we are determined for this event to involve the whole of the town.

“We want everyone to benefit and so we are delighted that businesses in Craig-y-Don have also answered the call and we are grateful to the sponsors of our prizes for their support.

“We hope to start a brand-new tradition with Merry Mostyn Street that will help keep our town the thriving and successful place we all want it to be, while also offering shoppers many fabulous opportunities to buy those gifts and Christmas essentials we all need, and then to stop off for a much-needed coffee – or something stronger – afterwards!”
