Trader of the Week: New artisan restaurant and café opens its doors!

Artisan Café and Bistro, at 3 Market Street (formerly Jay’s Café), welcomed customers for the first time on Friday, November 24.

It has been opened by Plamen Panayotov, also of Four Seasons café and bistro on High Street, Prestatyn, along with his cousin, Borislav Borisov.

Open from 9am until 9pm, Artisan Café and Bistro offers a wide range of breakfasts, paninis, sandwiches, baguettes, omelettes, salads, seafood- and meat-based dishes, pastas, pizzas and more.

And on December 1, it launched its Christmas menu, priced at £19.95 or £24.95 for two or three courses respectively.

On this menu are such dishes as a turkey dinner, nut roast, honey glazed ham, seared fillet of salmon, or a “Christmas burger” – chicken breast with brie, cranberry and stuffing.

Borislav, who also used to work at Four Seasons, said: “This is Plamen’s place, but this place and four seasons, they are like brothers. We try to do similar things here as at there.

“We always try to make our own home-made sauces, and to be different from other places. We saw that, in Rhyl, there are not too many places like this, and in the summer time, it’s very busy around here.

“So far, it’s been OK. November is always quiet, but December, I think, will be good, and next summer.

“At the moment, our mixed grill is very popular; people keep asking to try that. The paninis and baguettes do well at lunch, which I’d say is our busiest time.

“To me, ‘artisan’ means you create your food like artists. Plamen and I love cooking; we try to make everything ourselves, and do things our way. That’s why we called it ‘artisan’.”
