TOMORROW'S Christmas artisan market in Colwyn Bay has been cancelled after "highly dangerous" winds were forecast, the organisers have announced.

The event was due to be held on Station Road in the town centre tomorrow (December 9), but has now been cancelled at the last minute.

Event organisers, The Artisan Market Company, announced the decision on social media, with projected 40-50mph winds not allowing them to put on the popular market.

The news will no doubt be a blow to businesses and residents, with market stalls and festive entertainment having been planned.

Organisers had looked at moving the event indoors, to no avail.

The organisers said: "It is with a very heavy heart that we must announce, the Christmas Artisan Market in Colwyn Bay tomorrow (Dec 9th) has been cancelled.

"The winds forecast for the majority of the day are 40 - 50+ mph which is obviously highly dangerous and we are not permitted to hold a market in these conditions.

"We have looked at various possibilities of moving the event indoors but sadly it is just not possible.

"To say we are devastated is a massive understatement.

"We have worked so hard during the course of this year to be able to put on a fabulous festive event for all the community to enjoy.

"We are desperately sorry to all our artisans who have been busy making and baking in preparation for the event and to our fabulous entertainers & musicians who were excited to join us for this special day.

"And to everyone who was looking forward to coming down and enjoying the day with us, we sincerely apologise."
