DONATIONS have been urged to help cover costs for the funeral of a Colwyn Bay man whose death is at the centre of a murder investigation.

David Mark Wilcox, known affectionately as “Mark”, died aged 65 on November 20.

Born in Ebbw Vale, Mr Wilcox is survived by his mother, two sisters, four sons, nine grandchildren, and his extended family.

Flora Camacho-Clowes, who is the daughter-in-law of Mr Wilcox’s sister, has since set up an online fundraiser page on GoFundMe, in a bid to help give him a “beautiful send-off”.

You can donate yourself, and help Flora reach her £5,000 target, by visiting: www.gofundme.com/f/please-help-marks-family-with-funeral-costs.

Colwyn Bay woman charged with murder following death of man, 65

She said: “Mark was such a kind and wonderful person, who always cared for the people he loved. That’s what makes this even harder, when someone was as lovely as he was.

“The family need to deal with the investigation (into his death), and having that and a funeral at the same time is pretty up there with stress, so I thought I’d do my best to help as much as I can.

“Funerals cost an awful lot of money, and I’ve asked for only half of what it’s potentially going to cost.

“This is obviously a very unexpected cost for the family, and if the community wants to help and donate towards it, we are so grateful.”

Despite the GoFundMe page stating that Mr Wilcox’s funeral will take place on January 5, Flora said that this, in fact, is not confirmed yet.

Though she had only known Mr Wilcox for roughly the last five years, she had many happy memories of times spent with him, particularly in Cornwall, where he often visited his mother.

Flora added: “Mark had just retired, and I knew him from being down in Marazion in Cornwall a lot.

“Mark would help out with his mum there, and we would go down and visit them. I met up with mark quite a lot in Cornwall – I go there quite a lot for business, so we’d always pop in.

“I just want to help the family as much as I can, and am quite determined to do this for them.”

In a statement on the GoFundMe page, Flora added that Mr Wilcox’s death had caused his family “horrific shock and unimaginable sadness”.

She also described him as a “family man, who was a kind soul, and who cared greatly for his family”.

*Lauren Harris, 29, of no fixed abode but of Colwyn Bay, was charged with murder on November 24 in connection with Mr Wilcox’s death.

It was heard at the opening of the inquest into Mr Wilcox’s death that he died after suffering a stab wound.
