AN INSPIRING business owner who turned her life around after becoming homeless with her children after fleeing an abusive relationship has been shortlisted in the the UK Hair and Beauty Awards 2024

Rebecca Mavin, owner of Haus of Luxe based at Charlie Mary Jays in Colwyn Bay, has been named finalist in the HBA raising star category.

The UK Hair and Beauty Awards celebrates industry talent nationwide.

Rebecca, 29, stepped back into her creative seat only a few weeks ago. She is amazed to be up for an award "so soon" after her return.

The mum-of-two said: "I have been in the industry a few years and learnt from the best, Chantelle Tyler-Roberts at Style in Old Colwyn. Chantelle is well known for her talent.

"I took time out during Covid as I fell really poorly. After a really tough past year of homelessness and mental health struggles, I stepped back into the lime light and back into my creative seat.

"To be here saying I’m up for an award so soon is crazy.

"I'm so grateful for all the support and love I have been shown. I've got lots of returning clients and my books are filling up fast."

Rebecca has had Haus Of Luxe for three years.

Talking more about the challenges she has overcome, she said: "I became homeless with my children after a breakdown in an domestic violence relationship.
