A VIDEO on Facebook of an artisan bakery making gourmet apricot sausage rolls has enjoyed viral success on social media.

Benjamin Lee Artisan Bakery, based on Mostyn Avenue, Craig-y-Don, shared the video on its Facebook page on December 20, and has since been viewed 1.6million times.

The short clip depicts Benjamin Lee, who runs the bakery with his wife Dominika, making the sausage rolls – also known as his “specialty”.

You can watch the video for yourself at: www.facebook.com/reel/3788958277992576.

Benjamin said: “It’s crazy, isn’t it?! We’ve been doing these small Facebook ‘reels’, which usually get a couple of thousand views, but this one just went cuckoo.

“Facebook even sent us an email to say that we’d been approved for sponsorship on our reels, so we’re just trying to think of what to put on next!

“All I was doing was making sausage rolls, as I’ve been doing for 33 years! They sell really well, too – I have to make them all the time to keep up.”

A post on the bakery’s Facebook page added: “Wow, we couldn’t believe our eyes when we saw that our recent video has been viewed 1.6m times!

“It’s refreshing to know that people are still interested in the old-fashioned way of making sausage rolls, while the market is flooded with mass production tasteless products made by machines.”

The couple opened the bakery in April 2022, with Dominika running the shop and the café, and Benjamin the baker and chocolatier.

All of the products at the bakery, which is open from Tuesday through to Saturday, are made in-house by a team of professionals.

It is currently closed until the second week of January.
