A LLANDUDNO hotel has closed with its staff made redundant, after liquidators were brought in due to a fall in trade.

Whitehouse Hotel, at St George’s Crescent, closed at the end of 2023, with liquidators saying operator Seaside and Rural Breaks Limited had suffered during a difficult period for the hospitality sector.

The 56-bedroom, Grade II listed hotel, located in a prime position on the town’s seafront, saw costs spiral and was likely not helped by several poor reviews online.

Whitehouse Hotel had a 2.5 rating on TripAdvisor after more than 1,000 reviews, with some commenting that it was “grim” and “disgusting”, with others mentioning damp and stains on bedding.

Dean Watson and Paul Stanley, from Begbies Traynor, were appointed as joint liquidators, with all staff made redundant.

Attempts were made to contact Begbies Traynor for comment.
