A MAN from Prestatyn is to take on the IRONMAN Copenhagen challenge later this year in aid of a hospice from St Asaph.

Adrian Lewis, who attended Rydal Penrhos School in Colwyn Bay, will face a challenge which makes aspect of a typical triathlon even tougher.

When he faces the challenge in August, in support of St Kentigern Hospice, Adrian will swim 2.4 miles, cycle 112 miles, before finishing off by running a marathon.

He is facing this challenge in memory of his grandmother, who died at St Kentigern earlier this year.

Adrian said: “I was close to my ‘naini’ and miss her every day.

“The week she spent in the hospice, the care she received, and the support for the family, was amazing, and want to say thank you by doing this.”

Adrian is currently studying MORSE (maths, operations, research statistics and economics) at Warwick University, and is hoping to raise as much as possible from this challenge.

On November 19, he took on the Conwy Half Marathon and completed it in one hour and 38 minutes, with the conditions on the day of heavy rain with stormy winds and 1300 ft of elevation.
