FORTY plots have been made available to family members who would like to bury cremated remains of their loved ones on the Great Orme.

In the 1930s, the land was marked "not suitable" for burials but Conwy County Borough Council has now been able to allocate a suitable area of land at the Great Orme Cemetery for cremated remains.

The area is to the north corner of the cemetery.

A spokesperson for the local authority said: "In the 1930s the land was marked as not suitable for burials but with mechanical digging equipment now available we decided to carry out a test dig. We weren’t able to get enough depth for a grave but did manage to excavate depth for burying cremated remains.

"There are 40 plots which are available to the public to purchase on a 25 year lease basis."
