IN EXCESS of £40,000 of UK Government funds has been awarded to three grassroots football clubs in the Aberconwy constituency.

Llandudno FC in the Community, Llanfairfechan FC and Llanrwst FC will all receive funds for equipment and facilities improvement totalling more than £43,000.

MP for Aberconwy, Robin Millar, said: "I am delighted to see these clubs getting help for their teams and facilities.

“Football is such a passion for so many and running these clubs is hard work - usually done by volunteers, family, friends and supporters.

“They are at the heart of our communities and I'm delighted to see this money coming in to help out.

"I met recently with these clubs and others in Aberconwy to hear what their concerns were and see what I could do to help.

“Since then, I've lobbied ministers in the UK Government and I've also met with the council and spoken with FAW representatives.

"I'm hopeful that Aberconwy clubs are on the radar more than ever now.

“This UK Government funding follows a grant for Glan Conwy's ground maintenance and the resurfacing of the tennis courts at Bodlondeb, so I'm hopeful this is only the start.

"I am still pressing for a new artificial surface, for example at Creuddyn - and I know Llanrwst FC face a constant struggle with flooding there.

“I'm thrilled to champion the local teams we have here and promote the game and facilities for future generations."
