THE Artisan Market Company are getting ready for their first event of the year.

This will be held at the Bodnant Welsh Food on Sunday, February 11 between 10am and 4pm. There will be more than 30 stalls.

A spokesperson for the company said: "We'll be hosting a superb Artisan Market here at this beautiful location, so get ready for an exciting day of shopping, eating and celebrating the very best of North Welsh local produce and talent with arts, crafts, ceramics, skincare, jewellery, vintage, cheese, cakes, candles, booze and so much more."

In January, the Pioneer reported that Stella McClure and her partner Ben Froment, of The Artisan Market Company, will no longer manage the Colwyn Bay local market.

The couple, who breathed new life into the market when they took it on at the height of the pandemic, said it was a "sad decision but the right one."

Conwy County Borough Council said discussions will take place over the future of the market.

Cllr Nigel Smith, Conwy County Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for a Sustainable Economy, said: "We are living in a world where shopping habits have changed and footfall has unfortunately reduced in our town centres. Along with the cost of living crisis and the rise in fuel costs it’s a perfect storm and it made it unsustainable for the traders to attend the local market.

“Going forward we’ll now need to discuss the future of the local market.”

Stella and Ben are continuing with their artisan markets and have published a list of events for the coming year. Events will take place in locations around Conwy, Denbighshire and Gwynedd.
