RESIDENTS of Conwy and Denbighshire have had their culinary and hosting skills put to the test on this week’s episodes of Channel 4’s Come Dine With Me.

The show features five people who each host a three-course dinner party for the other contestants at their own home, with the highest-scoring chef winning £1,000.

This week’s episodes, filmed in the summer of 2022 and shown every night this week at 6pm, were filmed at the homes of residents of Rhos-on-Sea, Llandudno, Conwy, Deganwy and Denbigh.

So far, we have seen three contestants host – spray tan artist and playgroup deputy leader Saffron (Rhos-on-Sea), law student Jake (Conwy), and property developer Joey (Deganwy).

Joey is currently in the lead, having scored 29 out of possible 40, with Saffron and Jake having totalled 27 and 26 respectively.

Saffron’s “glitz and glam-themed” night involved her putting her raspberry sorbet dessert in her oven to cool it down, as well as games of “two truths and a lie” and “spicy chip roulette”.

Jake centred two of his three courses on leek-based dishes, and had a band perform in his back garden.

Joey, meanwhile, served a “24-carat gold fillet” for her main course with truffle and mushroom risotto, asparagus and tomatoes, and also held a “catwalk competition”, won by Saffron.

Still to host are makeup artist Piers (Llandudno) and clinical practitioner Laura (Denbigh).

Saffron, 26, who also enjoyed some back-and-forth with Joey on the show, said: “I just saw an advert on Facebook with a link to apply - I was in the bath at the time, and just thought I’d give it a go!

“I’ve always loved watching Come Dine With Me, it’s my go-to hangover show, and I’ve always liked cooking.

“Since the show, I feel like I’ve definitely got better at cooking, though I think they’ve shown more of me as a person than what I cooked!

“It was harder than I expected, just with the filming and the timing of things. They were very long days, but overall I had such a good, once in a lifetime experience.

“Joey and I actually do get on. It was just banter between us; we both knew that it was just fun. I really enjoyed it all.

“I had to do what I had to do with the sorbet – time was of the essence, so it was either the hairdryer, or the oven!”
