IT'S been another busy week in this part of the North Wales coast, with our team bringing you all the latest news and more.

1. Unaccompanied school children banned from Llandudno’s Asda store

Schoolchildren have been temporarily prohibited from entering Llandudno’s Asda supermarket unless accompanied by an adult.

This decision, labelled a “last resort”, follows a number of incidents involving youths at the store.

Asda, whose Llandudno superstore is based on Conway Road, said it has been in contact with North Wales Police and various schools in the area on the matter.

2. Hotspots for radioactive radon gas in Llandudno and Colwyn Bay

The levels of radioactive radon gas in Llandudno, Colwyn Bay and the surrounding areas have been revealed.

Public health officials say every building contains radon and levels are usually low, but there are hotspots across the country, caused by the type of ground buildings were constructed on.

An interactive map, provided by the UK Health Security Agency, can tell you whether you live in, or near, an area affected by high levels of radon gas.

3. Couple open music-themed coffee hatch on Llandudno’s West Shore

A  sandwich and cake shop in Rhyl priding itself on home baking was crowned the winner of the “new business award” at last week’s Rhyl BID Business Awards 2024.

Neens Butties and Bakes, which was opened on Grange Road by Janine Roberts in September 2022, saw off competition from nine other businesses to win the prize.

4. Rhos-on-Sea shop 'destroyed' after thieves steal thousands of pounds of jewellery

A Shop Rhos-on-Sea closed for a few days after thieves stole thousands of pounds' worth of items in a break-in this morning (March 15).

Ark Antiques and Jewellery, at 4 Rhos Road, suffered a break-in in the early hours, with the "callus" thieves also making a "terrible mess" of the shop and destroying its old glass window.

The owners said that they have been forced to close for a few days with a "heavy heart", adding they were "still in shock".

5. Drone images of Llandudno's Ferris wheel being reassembled

This week we shared amazing drone photos of Llandudno's famous ferris wheel being pieced back together. 

The 69-foot tall structure arrived at Llandudno Pier last weekend. 

It was reassembled and the ride is on schedule to open towards the end of this week.
