IT'S been another busy week in this part of the North Wales coast, with our team bringing you all the latest news from Conwy, Colwyn Bay, Llandudno, and the surrounding area.

1. Parking charges to go up at Colwyn Bay Promenade from May

It will soon cost £7.50 to park for more than four hours on Colwyn Bay promenade between May and September.

From May 29 2024, parking charges will increase on the prom by a £1 during the peak season.

Up to four hours will see drivers pay £5.50 for up to four hours (previously £4.50) and for more than four hours, it will cost motorists £7.50 (instead of £6.50).

2. COAST cafe in Rhos-on-Sea reveals expansion plans!

A café in Rhos-on-Sea is expanding. 

COAST café bar & gift shop has acquired 1-3 Rhos Road, in Rhos-on-Sea, to add to their brand. 

A statement on Facebook, on March 16, said: "We’re excited to share that we have now acquired 1-3 Rhos Road to add to the coast brand which links to the main café and gift shop here at Coast of Rhos-on-Sea.

"We will be opening the new space very soon."

3. Operator chosen for concession near Rhos-on-Sea paddling pool

The concession near the paddling pool at Rhos-on-Sea has been awarded to Rhos Pubs Limited.

Earlier this year, Conwy County Borough Council invited applications for a seasonal trading concession for ice creams, refreshments or bouncy castle.

The trading season will commence on March 23 and will end on November 6.

4. Extensive plans to refurbish Llandudno hotel approved

 

A hotel in Llandudno is to undergo an extensive refurbishment project, which will see the creation of a spa and the demolition of a section of the building.

Llandudno Bay Hotel and Spa, on the promenade, will see the partial demolition of some of its rear structures and a refurbishment of the existing building after plans were approved by the council.

5. 'True gentleman' TV presenter Andi Peters spotted in Conwy

A famous face was spotted in Conwy this week, stopping for photos with residents on the way.

Television presenter Andi Peters, known for his role in The Broom Cupboard and for presenting shows such as GMTV and Good Morning Britain, took selfies with residents on his visit.

One resident, Michael Davies, said it was a "pleasure" to meet the TV star, adding he was a "true gentleman" for stopping for a picture.
