THE first ever “Electronic Music Open Mic” (EMOM) performance is to be held at Conwy Brewery in Llysfaen on Friday (April 5).

Modulate, a non-profit community arts collective, have been putting on events in the Colwyn Bay area since 2018.

But their taproom takeover is the first to fully embrace the EMOM movement, which is rooted in welcoming performers and fans of all styles and persuasions.

More than a dozen creators of experimental synth soundscapes from across North Wales have answered their call, and will descend upon the Mash bar at Conwy Brewery to build a spectacular evening of electronic music for the like-minded and the curious.

"We're really excited to be bringing the first ever EMOM to North Wales, and just want to include as many people as possible," said Modulate co-founder Rob Dickson, who performs under the moniker “etchasketch”.

"It's something a bit different, too," said Matt Garnett, also known as “Sword Swinging Robot”.

"We all love indie cover bands, but bringing a full range of electronic music from breakbeat to techno with bleeps and bloops and weird space sounds? Now that's a night out."

"And it's in a brewery," added Matt Sydall, known as “The Mycelium Frequency”.

"Who could ask for more from a Friday night out?"

"We're delighted to be hosting Modulate," said Conwy Brewery general manager Kane Upton.

"We love to pair great music with great beer, and Friday night will be a fantastic showcase of innovative beats and brews."
