THE clean-up effort following yesterday's tidal flooding is in full swing.

Conwy County Borough Council had teams on the prom in Llanddulas, North Shore and Llanfairfechan today (April 10).

A spokesperson for the local authority said: "Once these areas are cleared, the teams will move on to Penmaenmawr and Colwyn Bay.

"We’re arranging to have a contractor to attend Kinmel Bay.

"We’ve got more than 500 tonnes of rock and shingle to relocate back on to the beaches."

The floor at the cafe was covered with about three or four inches of water on Tuesday, April 9 when high tide hit just before 12pm.

The tide reached 8.3 metres in Llandudno.

The paddling pool was also submerged.

The storm washed up syringes, plastic bottles, beer and drink cans in Rhos on Sea.

Llandudno promenade is full of debris. A number of play areas and skate parks were forced to closed due to flood damage.

Stormy weather caused thousands of quarry rocks to end up on Llandudno’s North Shore promenade. Large rocks were strewn across the pathway, covering its entire length and width.

Janet Finch-Saunders, Aberconwy MS, said:  “In my many years of being a Llandudno resident, I have never seen such destruction following a storm.

“If the beach had been returned to its sandy state, or better still not polluted in the first place, then this issue would simply have been avoided."

There were a number of flood alerts in place as well as road closures on Tuesday.
