COLWYN BAY FC have parted ways with manager Steve Evans following the club's relegation from the JD Cymru Premier.

The Bay were relegated yesterday, with Alex Downes' last minute winner against Barry Town not enough to rescue the club as Aberystwyth beat Pontypridd 3-0.

The club have now confirmed manager Evans has left the club, with a statement saying it was "a very difficult decision".

Former Wales international Evans took over as manager in 2022, and lead the club to a league and cup double last season.

But their first season back in the top flight was a difficult one, picking up just seven wins from 32 games to finish second from bottom.

The club said it would be making no further comment on the search for his successor.

A club statement said: "Colwyn Bay Football Club have today parted company with first team manager Steve Evans.

"This has been a very difficult decision, and not one that the board have taken lightly.

"There can never be a good time to part ways with a club but after lengthy deliberation and consideration it was decided a change is needed.

"On behalf of everyone at the club, we would like to thank Steve for his work as first team manager and wish him every success in the future.

"The club will be making no further comment until such time as a new first team manager is appointed."
