A FORMER Post Office premises in Llandudno Junction could become a restaurant and takeaway, under new plans.

The 163 Conway Road site was previously home to a Post Office and card shop.

The card shop closed in 2021, with the site remaining vacant since.

It is now the subject of plans to be converted into a restaurant and takeaway, which is being lead by applicant K Islam.

Mr Islam, from Deganwy, hopes to change the old One Six Three store having previously failed to do so with previous applications.

Previous proposals related to concerns about information on marketing of the premises, and on detail of the odour treatment and extraction system.

A supporting statement for the application, by Owen Devenport Ltd, said it is “clear that there is no demand for its use as a shop”.

The statement added: “It is also clear that the area suffers from an issue with vacant premises and struggles to attract retail uses, with this premises being one of the long-term vacant properties on the high street.

“The proposal would make a small but nevertheless valuable contribution to the economy, through employment, use of other businesses, and its contribution to the success of Llandudno Junction’s town centre.”

Plans will now be deliberated by Conwy County Borough Council’s planning department.
