PICTURES: RAF helicopter swoops over Llandudno waters

The helicopter, an Airbus Jupiter HT1 from No 1 Flying Training School (No 1 FTS), was carrying out an exercise with Llandudno Lifeboat on Monday, April 7.

The military helicopter on the training exercise with two lifeboats from Llandudno RNLI (Image: Greg Mape) Resident Greg Mape spied the helicopter when travelling along Llandudno Promenade.

Mr Mape said: "I was travelling along Llandudno prom and saw the helicopter and lifeboats so stopped to watch. I luckily had my cameras with me.

"You could hear the helicopter but it wasn't that loud. I have heard worse like loud motorbikes.

"The helicopter made a spray on the water which was impressive along with the brave man being winched up/down."
Airbus Jupiter HT1 carry out training with Llandudno Lifeboat (Image: Greg Mape) Squadron Leader Tim Mason, Media Officer, Royal Air Force Shawbury and No 1 Flying Training School, said: "The helicopter is indeed an Airbus Jupiter HT1 from No.1 Flying Training School (No.1 FTS). The School trains tri-Service helicopter aircrew for the UK military.

The School also has 202 Squadron which operates out of RAF Valley and teaches advanced flying, including winching operations over land and sea.
