FOUR milestone birthdays celebrated at Llandudno care home!

In just six months, four remarkable residents have celebrated milestone birthdays.

Laura Goodier hit the big 1-0-0 on April 15; Gladys Goodridge turned 101 on April 2; Dorothy Wilson reached the milestone age of 100 on January 29 and Jean Heslington joined the centenarian club on November 17 2024.

Laura Goodier turned 100 on April 15! (Image: Permission granted) Marcus Wilkes, director at Moorcroft on Fferm Bach Road, said: "It’s an incredible milestone to reach 100 and all of us at Moorcroft are very fortunate to have been able to be a part of these celebrations on four occasions in the last six months.

"All of our centenarians are remarkable ladies with very different but wonderful personalities.

"It really is a pleasure to have them at the head of the Moorcroft family.

"We had lots of celebrations on each of their birthdays with lots of visitors, cakes and cards.

"A big celebration with lots of family over was held for our 101 year old."

Laura, who was born in Derbyshire, moved into the residential home in September 2021. She has one son called Brian and used to be a short hand typist. 

Gladys Goodridge turned 101 on April 2! (Image: Permission granted) Gladys moved into Moorcroft in July 2024. She was born in Kent and has son and daughter Clive and Kate. She was involved in the war and used to "love" meeting the American soldiers, mainly for the chocolates.

Gladys is a former telephonist / receptionist and cashier.

Marcus described Gladys as "very young at heart" with an "extremely nice and cheeky side".

Dorothy Wilson turned 100 on January 29 (Image: Permission granted) Dorothy, who used to work for the Child Adoption Society, moved into Moorcroft in March 2023. She comes from Eccles and has one daughter called Helen. She said it is "unbelievable" to be 100 but she feels "no different".

Marcus joked that Dorothy is always causing "congestion" as she stops residents for a good natter as they pass by her in the dining room.

Jean Heslington turned 100 on November 17 2024 (Image: Permission granted) Jean, who originally comes from Leeds, moved into Moorcroft in January 2024. She said: “Moorcroft is like the Ritz!”

She has one daughter called Caroline. She used to be a telephonist for the Post Office. On turning upon 100, she said: "I have a sharp mind but a slow body."

Marcus praised Juliet Powell, registered manager at Moorcroft, Mair Rowlands, deputy manager, and the rest of the ream for doing the "most amazing" job. 

He said: "Our wonderful team ensure our residents have the most wonderful experience here at Moorcroft."
